Caribbean Stud Poker

Win over the house. Caribbean stud poker is played like poker but planned like blackjack. The aim is to defeat, not other players, but the casino itself.

So after the ante, five cards are dealt each by the dealer to a player and to himself. The poker player makes a call bet. Call bets double the pot amount at stake based on the ante. So if the hand is strong enough and the player feels lucky - especially after getting a hint from the dealer's first card---then the player can make a poker call bet. On the other hand, if the stud poker hand is too disappointing, especially in the face of a possible high hand at the sight of the dealer's first card, the poker player may surrender and the Caribbean stud poker dealer (and the house) gets the entire ante the player made.

Now, after the stud poker player has made a call bet, a lot of things may happen after the dealer's hand is revealed. Like, for instance, a player's bet may be returned to him if the poker dealer fails to at least reveal an ace or king. Aside from getting his original bet, the player also gets a Caribbean stud poker bonus of something double what was had in the ante. Now, if the dealer does have an ace or king, according to Caribbean stud poker rules, the player still beats the dealer if the player's hand is better than the dealer's hand, according to usual poker rules.

In Caribbean stud poker, the house pays when the player has a pair or high card. The house also pays a two to one ratio when the player has two pairs. When the poker player reveals three of a kind, the house pays a three to one ratio. For a straight in Caribbean stud poker, the house pays a four to one ratio. A flush earns a paying ratio of five is to one from the house, while a full house credits a seven to one ratio poker winnings from the house.

But if the dealer's hand is better than the player's, the player loses both call bet and ante. No more negotiating. But other casinos do. A card is "bought" before upping the ante in the call bet.

Caribbean stud poker has a lot of risks and opportunities for poker wins. Caribbean stud poker has plus points in that it is often easier to play and the player gets more chances of beating the house.
